If you are planning to invite children to your wedding you might consider making some special arrangements to entertain them during the reception.
Here are a few ideas to keep their little faces (and their parents) smiling!
-
If you have enough children consider seating them at their own table. Hire a “sitter” to be with them during the reception. Check with your local church to see if one of their nursery workers would be interested in earning some extra cash. Most churches typically run a background check on their employees, so you will make sure you are hiring a reputable person.
-
Check with your venue to see if they can provide you with a kids room. Some larger venues will have meeting rooms adjacent to the ballrooms that they you can have set up just for the kids. Of course, you definitely would need an adult to supervise this room. You can set up a tv/vcr for movies, have board games and art tables.
-
Make arrangements with your caterer to provide a kid-friendly menu for them. I don’t think I’ve ever met a 5 year old who liked prime rib! Besides, you really don’t want to pay for an adult meal for them.
-
Instead of the same favors that you are giving your adult guests, provide them with some type of activity pack to keep them occupied. Bundle together a coloring book and crayons, or maybe a small battery operated hand-held game.
A cute idea for favors are Wedding Bubblegum Buddies. These adorable bubblegum buddies are made of quality royal icing, sugar and corn syrup and meticulously hand-decorated for the occasion. Each buddy comes packaged in a 2 1/4″x1 5/8″x 1 5/8″ clear lucite container and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. For a personal touch, write your names and wedding date on the lucite container with a permanent marker. African American brides and grooms are also available. Cost is $2.95 each, minimum order of 24 pieces (12 brides and 12 grooms.)
